Latisse Does Grow Longer, Fuller Eyelashes

Likely you’ve seen the ads with actress Brooke Shields promoting Latisse, a prescription treatment for eyelash growth. The product sounds simple to use and the results seem dramatic, which has our patients asking, “Can it really be that easy?” We’re pleased to answer a resounding “yes!” Dr. Krummen and her entire staff have tried Latisse for themselves with excellent results.

Latisse was developed to treat eyelash hypotrichosis, the medical name for having inadequate or not enough eyelashes. While there are other, over-the-counter eyelash growth products available to treat this condition, Latisse is the strongest and most effective. It is available only by prescription and has FDA approval.

Those interested in Latisse are asked to come to the office for a consultation and to complete a medical history. Current patients who have a medical history on file will need to fill out a questionnaire regarding their eye health. Patients with certain eye conditions such as glaucoma or dry eyes will need to check with their eye doctor before we can prescribe Latisse. Most people are excellent candidates for the product and can take it home to begin using immediately. To apply, you simply brush it on your lash line nightly with the applicator provided. The Latisse is absorbed and you’re not even aware it’s on your lashes. While everyone’s eyelashes grow at different rates, most patients will have longer, fuller lashes within three to four weeks and within three months can expect uniformly long lashes.

Latisse is extremely safe, with virtually no side effects if applied correctly. If it gets into your eye during application, it may irritate but won’t harm your eye.

If you choose to stop using Latisse, your eyelashes will eventually return to the length they were before treatment. Patients can and usually do continue to use mascara and eye makeup while using Latisse because it’s not a substitute for these products.

If you’re interested in Latisse, contact our office. Each Latisse kit is priced at $120 or two kits can be purchased for $200. You can also purchase it as part of our “Fill the Void, Lose the Lines and Love the Lashes” offer in this newsletter. The number of applications per kit varies by patient with most seeing eyelash growth after completing one kit. However, it may take more than one to reach full eyelash growth.
