Is Your Skin Ready for Winter and the Holidays?

What a pleasure it was to see so many patients and their guests (over 200 of you!) at my Fall Open House. Thank you for sharing your afternoon or evening with me and my staff, I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. This annual Open House has proven to be a terrific way to introduce guests to the skin care procedures, products and services we offer. If you watched the demonstrations of facial peels or fillers or learned of new products at the Open House and have additional questions, I encourage you to call the office. We’re happy to answer your questions, offer more information and to schedule your pre-holiday or winter skin care treatments. Also please don’t forget that the discount coupons for skin care treatments distributed at the Open House must be used by the end of February.

Even if you didn’t make it to the Open House, now is a great time to review your current skin care program and discuss new options that can help you look and feel your best for upcoming holiday celebrations. Since winter always brings its own skin care challenges, this newsletter is a good place to start with advice included on how to meet those challenges. There’s also information included about the new skin care line available at our office. So please read on for details.

The temperatures have dropped, Daylight Savings Time ended in early November, and we’ve seen Christmas decorations in stores for months. So while the calendar doesn’t yet say winter we know its coming and with it, a new set of skin care challenges. In fact, as soon as the weather turns chilly and furnaces fire up, we usually notice changes in our skin. Some of winter’s most difficult skin challenges can be addressed with new or added skin care products. Forget Fads, Take Your Questions to a Certified Plastic Surgeon

New lasers, nonsurgical facelifts, miracle skin care products…most of us have seen advertisements for these types of cosmetic treatments and likely have even heard “experts” touting their benefits on television talk shows. Often I disappoint patients or curious callers when they ask me about one of these new cosmetic solutions and learn I don’t offer it. With many doctors, spas and hair salons now offering treatments and products to enhance appearance and improve skin, it’s hard for the typical person to know what’s a fad, what’s been carefully tested, and what’s just good advertising.

So I’d like to reassure you that while I won’t be offering every product and procedure that’s new and promises incredible results, I will continue to offer what I always have: sound and safe medical advice that I’ve been educated and trained to offer.
